Lake Como Villas and Museums Take Center Stage in the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad
Between February and March 2026, Lake Como will play a leading role in the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad.
A period filled with exhibitions, events and cultural itineraries that will bring art, landscape and sport into dialogue.
In this context, the coordination of Lake Como Villas and Museums officially joins the program promoted by the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation.
The cultural program accompanies the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, enhancing heritage, creativity and territories.
A Shared Project for the Cultural Olympiad
First of all, the participation of the coordination stems from a collaboration launched with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation.
This path was also made possible thanks to the role of the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce.
In particular, the Chamber of Commerce supported the growth of the network and fostered dialogue between local cultural institutions and the Foundation.
As a result, new opportunities for exchange and shared planning have emerged.
A Widespread Program Across Historic Villas and Museums
From February to March 2026, eleven historic villas, museums and cultural venues around Lake Como will present a diverse calendar of initiatives.
The program includes:
- exhibitions and installations
- educational programs and inclusive activities
- workshops and meetings
- special openings and participatory projects
In this way, each event will present Lake Como’s heritage in dialogue with Olympic values such as creativity, inclusion and international outlook.
At the same time, the program builds a collective narrative.
A narrative that intertwines art, landscape, sport and community.
Thus, local, national and international audiences will be able to experience Lake Como as a widespread cultural ecosystem, capable of engaging diverse audiences and multiple generations.
A Recognition of the Territory’s Networked Effort
“Participation in the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad represents a fundamental milestone in the growth journey of the Lake Como Villas and Museums coordination,” comment Maria Angela Previtera and Anna Zottola.
Moreover, it represents recognition of a collaborative effort based on solid relationships and shared projects.
A network that has opened the territory to dialogue at both national and international levels.
Not by chance, the project is part of the shared programming path launched by the coordination starting in 2024.
The goal is to strengthen Lake Como’s cultural attractiveness and promote sustainable tourism, based on the quality of content and collaboration between public and private stakeholders.
The Lake Como Villas and Museums Coordination
Currently, the coordination brings together eleven cultural institutions of excellence within the Lake Como area.
The aim is to foster Lake Como’s cultural growth through the sharing of ideas, resources and expertise.
The coordination includes:
BAC Bellano Arte Cultura, Casa Brenna Tosatto, Museo Barca Lariana, Museo della Seta, Museo del Paesaggio, Villa Bernasconi, Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, Villa del Grumello, Villa Monastero and Villa Pizzo.
In conclusion, through its contribution to the Cultural Olympiad, Lake Como Villas and Museums confirms its role as a territorial laboratory.
A laboratory capable of transforming major events into opportunities for cultural, social and economic growth.
