8 – 22 November 2025 | Galleria GALP, Olgiate Comasco
Free admission – Opening: Saturday, November 8 at 6:00 PM
The Galleria GALP presents “Nostalgia of Beauty”, a new exhibition that brings painting and sculpture into dialogue through the work of Gabriele Buratti (Buga) and Elias Naman.
Curated by Alessandra Redaelli, the exhibition invites the public to reflect on beauty as responsibility and ethical research, rather than mere aesthetics.
The Exhibition Concept: When Art Becomes Awareness
The exhibition arises from a simple yet urgent question:
Can beauty still save us?
Buratti and Naman respond with works that portray a fragile and necessary relationship between humanity, nature and memory.
- Gabriele Buratti, a Milan-based painter and sculptor, uses reclaimed wood as his canvas. On its surfaces he paints animals, skylines and wounded landscapes, revealing humanity’s impact on the environment. The weathered wood becomes a symbol of time, cracks and the possibility of rebirth.
- Elias Naman, a Syrian sculptor trained in Carrara, hand-carves reclaimed marble blocks. His figures recall classical harmony, yet are intentionally fragmented. They do not hide wounds — they celebrate them.
The two artists speak different visual languages, yet share the same vision:
beauty is a form of care and responsibility toward what surrounds us.
As curator Alessandra Redaelli states:
“Only beauty — authentic beauty — can heal wounds and make us more aware.”
An Immersive Journey Through Matter and Light
The exhibition is not just a display. It is a sensory experience.
Thanks to the collaboration with Riboldi Abita, the exhibition space is designed as a journey: natural materials, soft lighting and volumes that embrace the artworks. The feeling is that of entering a place that invites pause, listening and reflection.
Live Sculpture Performance
During the opening (November 8, 6:00 PM)
Elias Naman will carve a block of marble live, using only chisel and hammer. A rare and powerful gesture that makes visible the dialogue between artist and matter.
The evening continues with a themed buffet curated by the restaurant Rosso di Sera, inspired by the philosophy of the exhibition: simple, essential, authentic ingredients.
