The romantic Gelpi walk on the shores of Lake Como
To spend a really romantic Valentine’s Day on the shores of Lake Como we recommend Gelpi promenade, ideal for walking along the lake hand in hand to Villa Olmo and discover the profile and beauty Como.
You will be surrounded by a colorful charm and elegance.
More idea: take your half at sunset for an even more suggestive walk!
This walk along the western shore of the Bay of Como starts from the Aero Club Como and you can admire numerous mansions built between the ‘700 and’ 800.
Created in 1959 thanks to the will of the municipal administration, the goal was to design a “romantic walk” giving citizens a rich panorama of stunning views and elegant architecture.
The splendid homes that meet in this romantic itinerary are all surrounded by lush gardens.
The first residence we meet is Villa Scacchi-Carminati is a small villa decorated with a double loggia and crowned with statues and cherubs.
The second one located along the way is Villa Saporiti, now the seat of the Province, was built between 1790 and 1793.
Still owned by the Province is the next Villa Gallia built in 1614 by Abbot Marco Gallio.
They continue with Villa Parravicini Revel, with its monumental neoclassical architecture and a beautiful Italian garden and Villa Volonté consisting of an enchanting veranda.
At the end of the walk there is finally the majestic Villa Olmo, designed by the architect Simone Cantoni, commissioned by the Marquis Innocenzo Odescalchi in neoclassical style.
The villa is surrounded by a charming Italian garden.
On sunny days you can stop for a picnic while admiring Lake Como.

A love walk in Menaggio
This wonderful walk on Lake Como is characterized by the beautiful pedestrian path, well-kept and full of flowers and palm trees, as well as by the magnificent view of the lake surrounded by the mountains.
The walk winds around the small town square, characteristic for its bars where you can stop to eat a dessert or have a romantic aperitif.
The route starts from Piazza Garibaldi up to the town of Menaggio, along the entire lakefront.
Halfway you can admire the Monument to the Weaver, donated to the Mantero family who owned and still owns one of the oldest silk factories.
In any season the colors in this place are always beautiful and different. Immortalize them with numerous shots!
Highly recommended to surprise your lover and spend a loving day …
The famous Walk of lovers has a walkway cantilevered over the lake, which embark point of Varenna leads to the ancient village of the country.
From this romantic walkway you can admire the lake, the mountains and the small colored houses located at the foot of the rocky wall
Varenna is part of the province of Lecco and faces Bellagio to which it is connected by a ferry.
A perfect walk to impress on Valentine’s day …;)
The steps of love … the Greenway of Lake Como
A simple and flat walk, passable in all seasons.
It is a path of 10 km that crosses several municipalities, starting from Colonno through Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzagra coming in Griante.
The whole route takes about 3 hours, but for those who want there is the possibility of returning by bus or boat.
Following this very romantic itinerary, you will pass through enchanting villages and you can admire fantastic views of Lake Como.
Via dei Monti Lariani: a trekking full of adventure and love
For more trained couples we recommend a slightly more demanding itinerary.
Warning: the route is 125 km long and runs along the western shore of Lake Como, connecting various locations from Cernobbio to Sorico.
The starting point is Piazza Mazzini (Cernobbio), recognizable from the bus stop.
The path is located at an average altitude of one thousand meters, which offers spectacular views (and Instagrammabili!).
Along the way there are many huts for a short stop and for a snack!
The itinerary is numbered and marked by red and white flags, it is usually divided into four sections:
- from Cernobbio to Val d’intelvi (28Km);
- from Val d’Intelvi to val Menaggio (26Km);
- from Val Menaggio to Valle Albano (24Km);
- from Valle Albano to Sorico (46Km).
The first three stages are traveled in an estimated time of about 9 half hours each, while the last of 16 hours.
Decide how far to get … obviously our advice is to divide the route into several stages (at least 6), and to stay in some hut or refuge.
Baite di Brunate… in love!
The walk to Brunate is a journey of about two and half hours, suitable for everyone even for children.
It starts from the square of the funicular, then continues towards San Maurizio by stopping at the Voltiano lighthouse to enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Como and the city.
From San Maurizio you go up to Cao where the Sanctuary of Santa Rita (the smallest in Europe) is located.
Continue to the mule track that leads into the woods and from here you begin to meet the first huts (Carla hut, Bonella hut, Boletto hut) where you can stop for a refreshment and a
little break.
After an hour you arrive at Monte Bolletto, if you choose to continue you can get to the Bollettone.
For the more trained, the walk continues for two hours until reaching Mount Palanzone.
These are our tips for a Valentine’s Day dedicated to a walk to discover the mountains that surround us and our lake.
