La Scaletta di Cantù: where cassoeula tastes like home
There is a corner of Cantù where time seems to stand still, and it is called Trattoria La Scaletta. A place filled with the authentic flavors of traditional Lombard cuisine. It is the perfect spot for a family dinner, a Sunday lunch or an evening with friends.
The Cassoeula Festival
From January 17 to March 1, 2026, La Scaletta celebrates one of the region’s signature dishes: Canturina-style cassoeula, during a festival entirely dedicated to this much-loved winter specialty.
The special menu begins with an appetizer that tells the story of tradition through three tastings:
- Vanilla-infused cotechino, breaded and served with lentils
- Braised verzino sausage with green sauce
- A delicate savory shortcrust pastry filled with mortadella mousse and purple cabbage
Next comes the undisputed star: traditional cassoeula, “just like grandma used to make,” served here without pig’s trotter or verzino sausage, accompanied by stone-ground polenta that evokes the warmth of a lit stove and cozy winter Sundays.
The meal ends with a dessert of your choice from the menu, adding a sweet finish to the experience.
