A Christmas That Brings People Together: Cernobbio and Its Hamlets Celebrate

Cernobbio is preparing to celebrate a shared and widespread Christmas.
From December 6, 2025 to January 6, 2026, the Municipality presents “A Christmas That Brings People Together”, a calendar of initiatives involving the entire area: from the historic center to the hamlets, from the lakeside to Rovenna, from Mornello to Villa Bernasconi.
For over a month, residents and visitors will enjoy Christmas markets, workshops, concerts, street performances, charity initiatives and cultural events.

These words from Mayor Matteo Monti summarize the spirit of the project:

“This year we have chosen a Christmas that belongs to everyone. We will bring events, music and traditions to every hamlet, thanks to the contribution of associations, schools, parishes and local businesses. A special thank you also goes to the sponsors and institutions that supported the project.”

Festive Lights and Community Spaces

The Christmas lights, installed throughout the town, will create a great constellation of lights connecting the entire area:
from the town center to Strettoia, from Piazza San Stefano to Rovenna, up to the garden of Villa Bernasconi.
The official lighting ceremony will take place on December 6 at 5:00 PM at Villa Bernasconi, with music and entertainment.

This year, several municipal spaces will also open exceptionally:
the Library, Sala Stemmi, Civic Centers, Town Hall, Sports Hall and the Cernobbio 2000 sports field will become vibrant gathering places, hosting tournaments, shows and concerts for all ages.

The Nativity Tradition: The Heart of Christmas Identity

As every year, nativity scenes will be one of the most cherished traditions of the community.
In addition to the permanent nativity scenes in Piazza San Stefano and Olzino, there will be the Nativity Scene Competition, with the award ceremony on January 6.

Among the most anticipated events is the Living Nativity on December 13 in Piazza San Stefano.
Children from kindergarten and catechism classes will take center stage in a performance that winds through the streets of the hamlet, involving families and volunteers.

Villa Bernasconi: Culture and Liberty Atmosphere

Villa Bernasconi will be the cultural heart of Christmas.
The exhibition “Ice Liberty. Christmas at the Villa”, curated by architect Silvia Pio, will offer fairy-tale atmospheres and winter-inspired settings.

The program includes:

themed tours
activities for children
creative workshops
music and performances
artistic collaborations

A new addition arrives in the villa’s garden: Christmas in the Greenhouse, Orticolario’s Christmas Boutique.
A space dedicated to meaningful gifts, botanical design and social and cultural projects.

Local Associations Take Center Stage

The calendar highlights the active participation of local organizations.
Among the events:

the December 8 celebration by the Associazione Amici di Cernobbio
the exhibition by the Circolo Artistico Carlo Mira
the Gold Skate Academy Christmas Show
the Santo Stefano Concert

On December 5, there will also be a preview event dedicated to schools, featuring:

animated tours curated by Cristina Quadrio
primary school children’s choir
special participation by Davide Van De Sfroos

There will also be tastings, roaming music performances, cinema screenings, DJ sets and sports events.
On December 20, Strettoia will be closed to traffic for a Christmas celebration with local shopkeepers.
