Extravagant, unique and colorful.
These are only 3 of the many adjectives with which one could describe the Carnival of Schignano. An event simply not to be missed, which will win you over with its originality.

Where is Schignano? It is a small village in the green Val d’Intelvi, a few minutes from the shores of Lake Como.

PROGRAM

The start of the fancy dress parades of the 2020 edition is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, with the first parade, the one dedicated to children.
Usually, starting from 13.30, from Piazza San Giovanni, in the hamlet of Occagno in Schignano, the traditional masks of Brut and Mascarun and the more modern costumes of the children will characterize a parade so to speak, of “appetizer”.

On Saturday 22nd February and Tuesday 25th February at 2.30 p.m. the highlight of the Carnival will take place.
Departure from the main square and parade that will cross the hamlets of Schignano.
During the final parade, that of “Mardi Gras”, will take place the traditional and awaited “escape of Carlisepp”, puppet of the Carnival, that as always will try to escape but will be then caught and burnt at the stake.

During the parades there will be numerous stalls and stands where guests can taste the traditional and tasty local dishes.

So to sum up:

Sunday, February 16, 2020 – CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL . At 2 p.m. Meeting in Piazza San Giovanni (Occagno) of the “miniature” masks 2.30 p.m. Parade to Auvrascio and back. At the end of the parade, refreshments for everyone.
Saturday 22nd February 2020. At 1.45 p.m. Meeting with the Sapeurs. At 2.15 p.m. Meeting of traditional masks in Piazza San Giovanni (Occagno). At 2.30 pm Parade along the streets of the village, up to the hamlet of Auvrascio and back. At 18.00 The festivities will continue in the bars and clubs of Schignano.
Tuesday 25th February 2020. At 13.45 Meeting with the Sapeur. At 2.00 p.m. Meeting of traditional masks in Piazza San Giovanni (Occagno) . At 2.30 p.m. Parade along the streets of the village, to the hamlet of Auvrascio and back . At 4.00 p.m. Carlisepp escape. At 9.00 p.m. Vigil with the Fughéta – to be confirmed.
At 11.30 p.m. Procession with the Zep and burning at midnight in Piazza San Giovanni.
