{"id":19352,"date":"2020-02-17T17:32:39","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T16:32:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.comolake.com\/greenway-dei-patriarchi-itinerario-tra-borghi-ville-antiche-lago-como\/"},"modified":"2020-02-18T09:48:21","modified_gmt":"2020-02-18T08:48:21","slug":"greenway-dei-patriarchs-varenna-itinerary-between-villages-ancient-villas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.comolake.com\/en\/greenway-dei-patriarchs-varenna-itinerary-between-villages-ancient-villas\/","title":{"rendered":"Greenway dei Patriarchi: Varenna itinerary between villages and ancient villas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Greenway dei<strong>\u00a0Patriarchi<\/strong> is a walk that crosses Varenna and some of its closest towns such as: <strong>Olivedo<\/strong>, <strong>Fiumelatt<\/strong>e and <strong>Pino<\/strong>, offering spectacular views of Lake Como.<\/p>\n<p>Narrow alleys, ancient villages rich in history &#8230; during this itinerary they met the locals, inhabitants of the hamlets, often used with the sympathetic term<strong> &#8220;Patriarchitt&#8221;<\/strong>, from the Como dialect Patriarchi, because at the time they were practitioners of the <strong>patriarch religious rite of Aquilea<\/strong> and today long-lived and wise people who live and live in these places.<\/p>\n<p>The route <strong>was inaugurated<\/strong> in<strong> March 2017<\/strong> thanks to the will of <strong>the Councilor for Tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The path is simple, easy and for everyone. In fact, it is recommended<strong> for the whole family<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTo help you not to get lost, the itinerary is<strong> marked by yellow plates and arrows<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Journey time:<strong> 2 hours<\/strong> (<strong>one way<\/strong>)<br \/>\nTotal length of the route: <strong>6 km<\/strong> (<strong>one way<\/strong>)<br \/>\nStarting altitude: <strong>200 m<\/strong><br \/>\nMaximum altitude: <strong>314 m<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Itinerary<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The starting point<\/strong> to access the Greenway dei Patriarchi is located a few steps from the <strong>ferry port<\/strong> in the country of<strong> Olivedo<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWe continue along the famous <strong>&#8220;Passerella degli Innamorati&#8221;<\/strong> enjoying the magnificent view of Lake Como, reaching the Riva Grande di <strong>Varenna<\/strong>.<br \/>\nContinue until you see the walls of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelvillacipressi.it\/1\/12\/IT\/Home_page.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Villa Cipressi<\/strong><\/a> and immediately after those of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.villamonastero.eu\/index.php\/it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Villa Monastero<\/strong><\/a>, both have magnificent<strong> botanical gardens<\/strong> that can be visited.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;19339&#8243; img_size=&#8221;900&#215;550&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h6>Villa Monastero<\/h6>\n<p>You then crossed via<strong> IV Novembre<\/strong>. Crossing the road near the entrance to the Parking Varenna, take the climb on <strong>Via Roma<\/strong>. After a few minutes you arrive at the Varenna Cemetery, nicknamed the <strong>English Cemetery<\/strong>, because between the end of the 19th and 20th centuries there were many<strong> Anglo-Saxons<\/strong> who chose Varenna as a<strong> burial place<\/strong> (<em>curious!<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>After passing the cemetery, cross the Parco delle <strong>Rimembranze<\/strong> you will arrive in the town of<strong> Fiumelatte<\/strong> where you can see the white river, the foam that is created by the speed and impetuosity of the waters.<br \/>\nIf you are lucky you will be able to see this magic &#8230;[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;19341&#8243; img_size=&#8221;900&#215;550&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h6>Fiume Latte<\/h6>\n<p>Take Via alla Stazione Fiumelatte, to get to the <strong>panoramic balcony<\/strong>.<br \/>\nHead south along Via ai Mulini. After passing <strong>Fonte Uga<\/strong> (perennial source in the hamlet of Fiumelatte), head towards the small and narrow underpass.<br \/>\nThis <strong>ancient pathway<\/strong> track leads to an enchanting place: the<strong> area of \u200b\u200bthe &#8220;countryside&#8221;<\/strong>, the olive and lemon trees and the <strong>place called El Mutt<\/strong>.<br \/>\nFrom here take the new via Pino, with the fish farm, going up and taking the road\u00a0 Via dei Boschi.<\/p>\n<p>Then continue downhill which will take you to the <strong>old part<\/strong> of the country of Pino.<br \/>\nPassing under the railway underpass, you still meet the outward journey, you can travel it to go back or you can use the train (<strong>Fiumelatte stop<\/strong>) that takes you back to Varenna.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>INFORMATION:<\/h3>\n<p>The entire route (about 6 km long)<strong> is described in scoreboards<\/strong> that are located in both the
