The areas of the Center of Como and the fantastic villages that dot the shores of the homonymous lake are well known to all, including tourists.<\/span> But how many know the beautiful territories and the “little treasures” that hide the many towns located outside the center of Como?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How many have visited the medieval<\/strong> village of Villincino in Erba<\/strong>?<\/span> Who knows the network of trails in the Montorfano<\/strong> natural reserve, or do they know that a waterfall can be photographed at the Oasis of <\/strong>Baggero in Merone<\/strong>?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These are just three examples, but you could make a long list of surprising places but often ignored by most people because simply, not being famous, they do not know it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Between the two branches of Lake Como lies in fact the territory of Alta Brianza, an area full of environmental and landscape beauties as well as economic and productive center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the LAKE COMO GREEN LAND project<\/strong> to encourage the development and the knowledge of these territories, born thanks to the “District of Tourist Activity Expo Green Land”<\/strong> to which 13 municipalities of the Alta Brianza have joined and promoted by the Lombardy Region.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Inspired by this interesting project, we decided to bring back some of these less known but surprising places that are worth visiting at least once.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

ISOLA DEI CIPRESSI \u2013 PUSIANO<\/h3>\n

The history of this small but pretty island dates back to the Neolithic period, when on the eastern tip stood a small village built on stilts.<\/span> After many events the island was sold in 1874<\/strong> to the brothers Antonio<\/strong> and Egidio Gavazzi<\/strong>, industrialists of Valmadrera<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This beautiful enchanted place is now managed by “La Fondazione”, founded in 2011 with the aim of protecting, conserving, promoting and enhancing this artistic and historical asset.<\/span> In addition to making the Isola dei Cripressi and its property accessible, the Foundation also performs cultural or theatrical activities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

TENUTA DI POMELASCA \u2013 INVERIGO<\/h3>\n

There has been news of the locality of Pomelasca<\/strong> since the 16th century, when it was still owned by the Ciocca<\/strong> family of Milan, reaching the end, after numerous changes of ownership, among the possessions of the Sormani<\/strong> family, who still own the property today.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Arrived at the estate you are immediately struck by the surrounding landscape.<\/span> A pleasant hilly landscape immersed in a bucolic atmosphere.<\/span> Following the path you will come across the red church, which stands out for its bright color that contrasts with the green of the surrounding meadows and the blue sky.<\/span> In fact, this is made with Lombard brick, the typical red bricks that predominated in Renaissance buildings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the Cappella Gentilizia<\/strong> there is a large park in the estate, full of woods and paths and a small botanical garden<\/strong><\/span><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Church is really very picturesque and characteristic, and offers the viewer an evocative and unexpected landscape.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

OASI DI BAGGERO \u2013 MERONE<\/h3>\n

The Municipality of Merone<\/strong> contributed to the emergence of Baggero’s Ecofrazione, a system that puts man and the environment at the center of attention, promoting a tourism that is attentive to the ecological aspect through eco-pitches, an urban eco-park and a system<\/span> of bike-sharing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here in Baggero you can also visit the Oasis<\/strong>, a large green space where the ancient quarry has become a small paradise on earth with two dams, ponds, the many mills that follow the waters of the river Lambro and the various paths.<\/span> These wind along the magnificent fields of maize and fragrant woods where you can see a variety of animals including hares or sparrows.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is certainly the perfect place to take a walk in peace so as to get away from the chaos of the city in a short time.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

BORGO DI VILLINCINO \u2013 ERBA<\/h3>\n

Villincino<\/strong> located in the town of Erba, is an ancient fortified village of medieval<\/strong> origin<\/strong>, surrounded by stone walls and equipped with two tower entrances at the ends.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Originally, the village was the fortified residence of the Carpani<\/strong> family, an ally of the Visconti<\/strong> of Milan, as evidenced by the fresco found in an apartment that is part of the complex, which depicts two ladies holding the family crest: a hornbeam tree in front<\/span> to a white tower.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The village with its buildings and walls, is a sensational example of medieval construction and still remains well preserved.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

TORRE MEDIEVALE and historic center \u2013 EUPILIO<\/h3>\n

The Galliano tower<\/strong> on the slopes of the Molvesio<\/strong> hill is a medieval building dating back to the 12th century.<\/span> It is an imposing and fortified structure designed as a simple military garrison and guard point.<\/span> This military and purely strategic function was also proven by the existence, documented by historical reports, of a nearby castle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To see if you go to Eupilio<\/strong> is also the historic center especially the church of San Giorgio in Corneno, dedicated to a warrior saint, given its proximity to the tower.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

PARCO DELL\u2019ALPE DEL VICERE\u2019 \u2013 ALBAVILLA<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Alpe<\/strong> del Vicer\u00e9<\/strong>, in the municipality of Albavilla<\/strong>, owes its name to Eugenio di Beauharnais, stepson of Napoleon Bonaparte and appointed by him Viceroy of Italy, who bought in 1810 the large plateau to make you build a large building to be designated<\/span> to his horses.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The area is of palaeontological importance for the outcrop of a succession of rocks of the lower Jurassic rich in Ammonites.<\/span> This area is also peculiar for its karst morphology.<\/span>
